Abstract

Information on the pΛK and pΣK coupling constants is obtained from three types of kaon-nucleon forward dispersion relations: an unsubtracted dispersion relation for the difference of the K −N and K +N amplitudes, a once-subtracted dispersion relation for the K +N amplitude, and the Haber-Schain linear extrapolation method. The results of the various methods are in agreement with each other and imply that the values of the coupling constants are incompatible with SU(3) invariance. Some of the ambiguities which are present in the analysis are discussed.
