Abstract

The values of the mean inner lattice potential Φ were determined by the method of high energy electron diffraction from precise sections of LaB 6, TiB 2, EuB 6 single crystals and elementary boron of the β-rhombohedral modification. The values of the mean inner lattice potentials calculated from experimentally measured Kikuchi line-splitting are (9.78 ± 0.17) eV for LaB 6, (20.34 ± 0.98) eV for TiB 2, (12.7 ± 0.71) eV for EuB 6, (22.48 ± 1.1) eV for β boron. Based on developed representations of the inner lattice potential and the work function the relation between these magnitudes, expressed by A = Φ − ϵ F ( ϵ f , Fermi energy), was established. The proposed dependence was confirmed experimentally.
