Abstract

An approximate method is proposed for determining the load-carrying capacity of structures in the form of sectional thinwalled prismatic corrugated shells. The shells are used for the roofs of hangars and are composed of standard members. The method takes into account the geometric nonlinearity and plastic properties of the material of the plates that form each member, as well as the change in the geometry of the central axis of the overall structure when deformed in the transverse direction. A numerical example is presented to show the agreement between the method and experimental data.
