Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to present a method for analysing the first swing stability by solving simultaneous differential and algebraic equation set in time domain without system reduction. The CPU time required by the proposed method, which is always the first consideration in fast transient stability assessment, is less than the contemporary methods including various techniques based on Lyapunov's Direct method. The significant advantage of this method is, furthermore, that it can incorporate various modeling requirements, such as successive contingent events, the different synchronous machine model applicable for the first swing analysis, the effect of loads, as well as automatic control operations.
