Abstract

Biological assays based upon 5 or 6-day body weight gain have been developed to determine the availability of lysine and methionine in menhaden fish meal when added to semi-purified diets of young turkeys. The values for the availability of lysine and methionine in eight fish meals were determined by slope ratio assays to be 93 ± 12% and 83 ± 11%, respectively, of that found by chemical assay.
