Abstract
The dispersity of a medicinal powder in a base is one of the indices characterizing the quality of suspension ointments. In the USSR in accordance with GFKh [State Pharmacopoeia, Xth edition] (paper 709), the dispersity of ointments is determined by the visual examination of a sample of the ointment placed between two microscope slides. The subjectivity of such a method of determining the disperse state is obvious. Similar methods for checking suspension ointments are used in a number of other countries as well [i]. In some countries, the dispersity of medicinal ointment is determined by microscopic analysis.
