Abstract

It is shown that by introducing chlorine monofluoride ClF into the laser chamber as an additive and measuring the ClF3 concentration in the gas mixture after initiation, it is possible to determine the initiation conditions and the efficiency of the optical pump source. An analysis is made of chemical processes taking place in the gas mixture after the initiating pulse and the relevant experimental data are presented.
