Abstract

The characteristics of the prebreakdown and leading stages of the high-voltage breakdown of an interelectrode gap are studied. It is shown that the level of the breakdown voltage is determined either by the value of the discharge ignition voltage or by the value of the flashover voltage of the interelectrode gap, while considering for which of the values the requirements are maximum in each particular case.
