Abstract

A transient heat conduction problem, in which a frictional heat source is uniformly distributed over a circular region on the surface of a half-space and varies in time according to the solution of the dynamic (deceleration) problem, has been considered. The problem is formulated in terms of Hankel and Laplace integral transforms, and then inverse Laplace is obtained in closed form, and inverse Hankel numerically. This model enables the flash temperature in braking to be found.
