Abstract

A controlled-potential coulometric method for the determination of Tc was developed whereby Tc(VII) is titrated in an acetate-buffered (pH 4.7) solution of sodium tripolyphosphate at a potential of --0.70 volt vs S.C.E. In the range from about 0.5 to 5 mg of Tc(VII) titrated, the relative error of the method is about 450 deg C in a 1% and the relative standard deviation about 0.5%. Various possible interferences were studied; Tc(VII) can be removed quantitatively from most interfering ions by distillation from sulfuric acid solution. The method is relatively simple and rapid.
