Abstract

This paper explains the correlation between shear strength and ultrasonic wave velocities, of a subcoal strata. Core samples from eleven coal mine floor borings were tested for their strength and ultrasonic properties. The results of the ultrasonic testing were compared with the shear strength values determined from undrained triaxial, and unconfined compression strength tests. 18 refs.
