Abstract

Stellarator expansion techniques, previously used to obtain an asymptotic toroidal equilibrium for the ideal scalar-pressure fluid equations, are applied to the guiding-center model. An explicit formulation for determining the asymptotic solution is given in terms of a small parameter. This parameter measures the magnitude of the magnetic fields associated with toroidal curvature, currents in the helical conductors, plasma pressures and currents, with respect to a zero-order uniform magnetic field.
