Abstract
A fast method for the determination of the sodium content of sodium amalgam is based on the almost linear part of the relationship between the thermo-electric potential (T.E.P.) and the sodium content. An apparatus was constructed which has been successfully used in a mercury-brine electrolysis plant for several months. The speed of analysis is 120 samples/h. The mean deviation is ± 5% for the sodium content range of 0.1 to 0.4% by weight.
