Abstract
This paper describes a simple method for the rapid and non-destructive analysis of silver content in silver-copper coins. The involved technique is based on neutron absorption. The system makes use of a 1 μg Californium-252 neutron source and is easily transportable. Silver content evaluations in two kinds of Roman coins (“denarii” of Mark Antony and “victoriati”) are reported.
