Abstract
An alternative method of evaluating chemical rate constants from NMR measurements is proposed. The integral over the NMR power spectrum depends on the life times of reacting species in contrast to the integral over the conventional phase sensitive NMR spectrum. Using this effect the range of measurable rates can be increased by about two orders of magnitude as compared to those obtained with the line shape method. From integrated power spectra also the ratio of T2 to a precisely known reference T ref 2 can be determined. Inhomogeneous magnets do not deteriorate T2, thus obtained.
