Abstract

This article describes a procedure for the rapid determination of oxygen which involves the melting and reduction of the oxide, aerosol, or slag, the liberation of oxygen in the form of carbon monoxide and its oxidation to carbon dioxide, and the subsequent neutron activation analysis of oxygen in this sample. Calibration procedures are discussed. The test oxides include silicon, aluminium, niobium, titanium, zinc, and zirconium.
