Abstract

A new method has been developed which uses the hyperfine spectra of Fe atoms in dilute Fe alloys to obtain: (1) the moment on a transition metal solute atom, (2) the shape and magnitude of the Fe matrix moment perturbation and (3) the hyperfine field shifts at Fe atoms in the first four neighbor shells surrounding the solute atom. A dipolar‐type moment perturbation varying as 1/r3 is found to fit the data best.
