Abstract

A method was developed for the routine identification and quantification of individual organomercury compounds at low concentrations in water. The method was shown to give good recoveries of methylmercury as methylmercury iodide from water over the range 0.37–37 ppb of Hg with a practical detection limit of 0.05 ppb of Hg. The method was not subject to interference from mercuric ion.
