Abstract

The Deep drawing process is one of the sheet metal forming process, which is broadly utilized in various industries. At the start, the quantity of stages in structure of multistage deep drawing process must be assessed so as to upgrade the procedure conditions. The estimation of number of steps associated with achievement of the required shape of the component mainly depends up on the Limiting drawing ratio (LDR). Indeed, LDR is an essential process of component to be familiarized by process engineers in minimization of forming steps for multistage deep drawing process in which the forming of finished component cannot be achieved in single stage deep drawing process. LDR is characterized as the ratio of maximum diameter of the blank which will gives successful formation of cup to the punch diameter. In this paper limiting drawing ratio can be calculated for aluminum –copper bimetallic sheet. Bimetal sheets made of aluminum and copper sheets were deep drawn by testing machine. With this respect, the maximum diameter of the blank, load, displacement was researched. The deep draw ability assessed for aluminum –copper (percentage of layers 85%- 15% with respective to thickness) bimetal sheet through Deep drawing process.
