Abstract

Lead concentrations were determined by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry after preconcentration on the cellulose ion exchanger Cellex P. The influence of the excess of calcium and magnesium salts on the uptake efficiency of Pb(II) and also Cu(II), Ni(II), Cd(II), Zn(II) and Mn(II) was studied. Cellex P is shown as a selective ion exchanger for preconcentration and separation of lead from all natural waters. The detection limit of the method if 0.15 μg 1 −1.
