Abstract

Although, the quadrature-form solution of immobilized enzyme penetration depth was given in the work of Do', the integral in the LHS of eq. ( 1 ) is possible and is given in the appendix. The purpose of this communication is to show that two important dynamic parameters, k, and D, , can be determined very easily via two simple linear plots using the one-shot experiment of immobilization of enzyme into porous solid supports. The information that one can get from experiments is the data of Eb vs. real time, t. As we shall show below, the external mass transfer coefficient, k, , can be determined from the initial data of Eb vs. time and the effective diffusivity of enzyme, D,, can be determined from the full transient data of Eb vs. time.
