Abstract

Abstract A flow injection analysis/wall-jet electrode system coupled to a reactor packed with controlled pore glass beads containing coimmobilized glutaminase /glutamate oxidase was investigated for glutamine determination in mammalian cell cultures. In the reactor, glutamine was converted to hydrogen peroxide which was detected amperometrically at the wall-jet electrode controlled at +0.65 V (vs Ag/AgCl, saturated KCl). The system was tested for its stability, linearity and precision of response to glutamine. Finally, it was applied to determination of glutamine in various mammalian cell cultures.
