Abstract

Associated production of W or Z with a charm at high-energy pp or p p ̄ colliders is investigated, including complete QCD corrections up to order αα s 2. We can probe gluon, and charm (and bottom) densities inside nucleons using prompt W and Z productions without the theoretical and experimental uncertainties, which are closely related to the direct photon production experiments at high-energy hadron colliders. Also we derive a unique method to extract the ratio of the valence quark densities using the experimental measurement of asymmetry in W rapidity distribution.
