Abstract

Summary The present work discusses the issue of determining geodetic control network in order to monitor the condition of power lines. The problem was presented using the example of the physical survey of an actual infrastructure – a high voltage power line. Difficult terrain conditions constituted a significant factor for determining an appropriate measurement method. The measurement itself was conducted using two methods, independently of one another: the classical traverse method, and the RTK (Real Time Kinematic) GPS method. The following criteria were assumed for the purpose of the comparison: measurement effectiveness and the accuracy of the calculation result. Basic monitoring procedures of power lines were also presented, implemented based on the measurement network established beforehand.
