Abstract

The framework aluminium content of normal and dealuminated zeolite-Y may be obtained from 29Si n.m.r. data, unit cell constants or positions of infrared bands due to TO stretching modes. Using n.m.r. data as the primary means for determining framework aluminium the following equations were obtained: N AI =107.1(a o−24.238) N AI =0.766(1086.7− v 1) N AI =1.007(838.8− v 2) where N Al is the numbers of aluminium ions per unit cell, a o is the unit cell constant in Å, ν 1 is the wavenumber for the asymmetric O TO mode and ν 2 is the wavenumber for the symmetric mode.
