Abstract

Recent experimental results of Das et al. and of Luo et al. on the Shubnikov--de Haas oscillation beatings in two-dimensional electron systems (2D ES) are quantitatively described in terms of a model based on the energy spectrum of a 2D ES with strong spin-orbit coupling. Values of the energy spectrum parameters, including the g factor, are obtained for two-dimensional electrons in ${\mathrm{In}}_{\mathit{x}}$${\mathrm{Ga}}_{1\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}\mathit{x}}$As/${\mathrm{In}}_{0.52}$${\mathrm{Al}}_{0.48}$As (x\ensuremath{\simeq}0.6) heterostructures.
