Abstract

The first determination of enantiomeric excess using fluorescence-detected circular dichroism (FDCD) without physical separation of the enantiomers is demonstrated for mixtures of the binaphthyl compounds (S)- and (R)-1,1'-binaphthyl-2,2'-diyl hidrogen phosphate (BNPA). The FDCD measurement provides excellent accuracy in the determination of enantiomeric excess as well as excellent detectability of the enantiomeric compound, with a detection limit of 20 nM, corresponding to circular dichroism signal ΔA of 3.4×10 -7 absorbance units, for pure (S)-BNPA
