Abstract

Restructuring in the electric power industry will result in power system operation at higher levels of loading, increasing the potential for voltage instability due to saddle node bifurcation. In this paper, the authors present a computationally efficient method for emergency system control following such an event. The method only needs information typically available from a state estimator; it does not require the user to supply detailed models of power system dynamics.
