Abstract

One of the sectors that support the industrial development of Romania, in addition to the machine construction industry, is also the wood processing industrial activities sector, an industry that has prospects for expansion in terms of modernity in demand and capacity, the only limitation comes from the requirement of development sustainable, that is, from the requirement to protect forest resources. However, this limitation can be solved by changing the type-size structure of production and increasing the weight of furniture production in favor of semi-finished products (wood, furniture, etc.). In the context of economic sustainability, the development of the industrial sector based on wood resources in Romania is becoming a strategic sector in the current period. Studying the potential of the industrial sector based on forest resources can bring clarifications to the formation of strategies in the fields of forestry, agriculture, the wood industry, etc. The author's concerns in the presented research are oriented towards providing more statistics and data on the share of forest resources in the last 10 years in Romania to establish the level of economic efficiency for sustainable development.
