Abstract

The understanding of the magnetic structures of RE Be13 intermetallic compounds (RE = Tb, Dy, Ho, Er) requires knowledge of the exchange and crystalline electric field (CEF) parameters. The magnetic ordering temperature (TN) gives the order of magnitude of the exchange interaction: TlN follows a de Gennes’ law, decreasing from TN = 16.5 K in Tb Be13 to TN = 2.8 K in Er Be13 (values obtained in neutron diffraction experiments).
