Abstract

In a recent issue of the Journal of Strength & Conditioning Research, Bergstrom et al. (1) presented a “New single work rate test to estimate Critical Power and Anaerobic Work Capacity.” The basic question of this project was simple: can the critical power (CP) and anaerobic work capacity (AWC or W′) be accurately estimated from a single exercise test, requiring no a priori information on subject fitness (i.e., gas-exchange threshold)?
