Abstract

This article shows how the accuracy of determining the content of antioxidant additives in used aviation oils by means of TLC can be improved by proper selection of the design of the metering device, by accounting for the influence of the chemical composition of the oil base stock and the additives being analyzed and the content of additives, and by refining and improving the chromatogram scanning method. The accuracy of the procedure was checked by determining the content of the additive dibutyl-p-cresol in an oil to which it had been previously added in a concentration of 0.35% by weight.
