Abstract

This article shows how to determine the difference in the vapor and liquid temperatures averaged over the jet length in order to calculate heat transfer from vapor to liquid jets. Vapor condensation on liquid jets occurs in many heat exchangers used in various technological fields. An expression is presented for the calculation of the average temperature head during the heat exchange between the vapor and the liquid jets. The water temperature is measured at the inlet of the jet-forming hole and in the funnel, the vapor temperature is measured in the experimental apparatus, and the rate of water flow is measured through the jet-forming hole. It is demonstrated that the derived expression can be used for calculating heat transfer from the vapor to the liquid jets over practically the whole encountered range of parameters of functioning of direct-contact jet condensers with any cooling liquid.
