Abstract

Abstract The frozen contents of the package are thawed in a plastic bag and then transferred to a mechanical blender. A portion of the blended sample is refluxed with 95% denatured alcohol, weighed on a filter in a Büchner funnel, and washed with 80% denatured alcohol. The filter is then dried 2 hr and weighed. The method was applied to 18 samples of frozen peas with over 100 replications. The mean standard deviation for six collaborators who replicated two samples five times each was ±0.30.
