Abstract

This research aims to elucidate the determinants of cultural heritage tourism demand by using visit frequency as a dependent variable. Combining use of the truncated Poisson model and order logit model, we analyze the demand structure of cultural heritage tourism relative to frequency of visits to the Forbidden City. Although the results based on the two models differed, we show major determinants to be authenticity selection attributes and sociodemographic and tripographic characteristic variables. These variables are expected to be helpful in learning in cultural heritage tourism destination and suggesting better cultural education programs for cultural sustainability in cultural heritage tourism.
