Abstract

Electronics for high resolution gamma spectroscopy in heavy overload conditions are described. In such a situation, the detector-preamplifier combination requires special attention. The behaviour of various configurations (with gating or large dynamic range circuits) are compared. The study of microsecond isomeric states in fission fragments between the bursts of a linear accelerator gives a good illustration of the capabilities of our improved spectrometer.
