Abstract

This paper presents new detectors developed to handle the severe nonlinear distortion introduced by 32 kb/s Adaptive Differential Pulse Code Modulation (ADPCM). These detectors are tested against previously developed detector named system-B using data transmission at 9.6 kb/s over ADPCM link in cascade with telephone channel. Simulation results show that the error rates of the proposed detectors approach negligible values at certain signal-to-noise-ratio (SNR), while, the error rate of system-B remains constant at certain value.
