Abstract

A method for detecting and locating sources of saline water percolating through the bottom of a lake is described. The method is based on the fact that the salinity of the springs in the area described is accompanied by natural radioactivity. A large area was monitored for radioactivity which indicated the areas where detailed measurements of the salinity of the mud were carried out. These measurements should be followed by direct flow measurements. The contribution of the sources to the salinity of the lake may then be determined.
