The temperature dependence of the quadrupole spectra measured by nuclear double resonance techniques at the matrix atoms in the neighbourhood of diluted lattice defects or foreign atoms can be used to study diffusion and trapping properties. The experimental possibilities are demonstrated by hydrogen diffusion in lithium metal.
