Abstract

High resolution radars (HRRs) transmit a wideband signal to achieve a high range resolution. This paper presents a range-spread target detector based on order statistic in Gaussian white noise. Considering that the target spreads in multiple range cells in high resolution radar systems, we sort the range cells by energy in the detection window, and then the energy is sequentially accumulated and detected until a decision is made. An algorithm for computing the test thresholds of the detector is proposed. In addition, the detector is compared with other detectors under a given probability of false alarm by Monte Carlo simulations, which proves the proposed detector is more powerful with full.
