Abstract

As an important treatment for thoracic cancers, radiation therapy (RT) can cause definite cardiotoxicity, even with modern techniques, such as 3D-CRT and IMRT. This prospective study was initiated to assess radiation-induced heart disease (RIHD) during-RT (at 40Gy) using gated 99mTc-sestamibi (MIBI) single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) in patients with esophageal cancer. This ongoing study aimed to investigate the value of 99mTc-MIBI SPECT in the detection of RIHD as early as during-RT.
