Abstract
In 1999 Japan's Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI, presently METI) drilled an exploratory well in Nankai Trough (Figure 1) as part of a methane-hydrate (MH) research program. Cores and log data acquired in this well indicated MH occurrence.
