Abstract
Silicon barrier detectors have been used to detect H +, H 2 +, and H 3 + by using the detector as a dc current amplifier. Measurements were made in the energy range 2 to 35 keV. The gain of the detector was a linear function of energy for H + energies in excess of 3 keV. The value of ϵ (energy per electron-hole pair) for incident protons was 4.26 eV obtained with zero voltage across the silicon crystal.
