Abstract

Tumour-derived DNA sequences can be detected in the plasma of cancer patients,1–3 and Lo and colleagues reported the presence of Y-chromosome-specific - sequences in maternal plasma during gestation.4,5 These findings may have implications for the development of non-invasive prenatal diagnosis methods.
