Abstract

Various ferroelectric crystals and ceramics are assessed as detectors of optical, infrared, and microwave radiation. The noise equivalent power, responsivity, and response time are measured on BaTiO 3 and triglycine sulfate crystals as a function of radiation frequency, modulation frequency, temperature, and circuit parameters. Linearity of response of pyroelectric detectors to microwave radiation is studied at 5·6 and 10·5 Gc. Appearance of particularly sensitive regions in pyroelectric crystals and unusual effects of humidity on polarization characteristics of triglycine sulfate crystals are reported.
