Abstract

Cloud computing has the capability of sharing and retrieving data, remote controlling from different locations, that is why many companies and organizations implement their businesses on cloud computing. Cloud computing is dependent on the internet there for security for cloud environment became a major topic. Service providers of cloud computing must provide security to their customers; therefore, they need security tools and techniques to protect cloud environment against any threat. Denial-of-Service (DoS) and Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks are thoughtful attacks due to accessibility and show property of cloud computing. In this paper SNORT as an intrusion detection system is tested that how it detects DoS and DDoS attacks. Some other existing detecting techniques for DoS and DDoS attacks are also discussed. This paper fills this gap from the aspect of control system performance.
