Abstract

In this review paper, various techniques such as open-ended waveguide system, cavity perturbation technique, transmission line system, time-domain reflectometry method, modern technique like simulation method are explained for estimation of dielectric properties of organic solvents. These techniques use different sensors such as stub resonator, coaxial line stub resonator, open-circuit waveguide. Here measurement of dielectric properties of various liquids such as water, aqueous solutions, green coconut water, and also viscous organic liquids are briefly summarized. In different techniques different processes are used to study the dielectric properties. In co-axial stub resonator system and in cavity perturbation technique the resonant frequency is measured, while in transmission measuring system and waveguide technique transmission as well as reflection coefficient are measured to estimate the dielectric properties of organic liquids. These techniques measure dielectric properties of various organic liquids at radio and high frequencies using different methods. This paper highlights the influence of frequency and temperature on the values of relative complex permittivity, dielectric loss tangent, and dielectric constant for several kinds of liquids.
