Abstract

This paper presents a detection scheme for delay-hopped transmitted reference (TR) UWB communication systems, as the original TR technique proposed by Hoctor and Tomlinson, in the presence of Narrowband Interference (NBI). We derive a chip level data model which takes into account the effects of NBI and noise. The validity of the model is shown, enabling superior performance by using least squares detection algorithms. Simulation results are conducted under a practical scenario where the UWB transmission coexists with an IEEE802.11a WLAN service.
