Abstract

The impedance method for the determination of the clotting time of whole blood has been found useful for the determination of clot retraction time. Although in previous attempts clotting and clot retraction affected the impedance in the same direction, the measuring cells used in the present work enable separation of the changes caused by the two processes. The introduction of disposable cells may enable easy and accurate determination of clot retraction time during routine impedance measurements of blood clotting time.
