Abstract

The amplitude of the analytic signal of the in-phase component of very low frequency electromagnetic method (VLF-EM) data is used in the delineation of the direction of basement fractures which host uranium. The images of the 2D and 3D amplitude of the analytic signal, particularly 3D images, bring out precisely the basement fractures. The in-phase component with the Hilbert transform yields an approximate depth to the basement fractures. The entire study is exemplified with the in-phase component of VLF-EM data to map the spatial distribution of basement fractures where uranium mineralization is reported in Sambalpur granitoids in the Raigarh district, Chhattisgarh, India.
